Courage Tiger’s Road Trip Day 37: The Beginnings of the Burn Program

Happy Sunday everybody! I’m in Arkansas today and I learned all about the beginning of the Beads of Courage Burn Program! I stopped by Arkansas Children’s Hospital to learn all about how we launched the first Burn Program here.

Chelsea, a Beads of Courage Member!

Beads of Courage founded the first Burn Program in 2012 here in Arkansas. Our program provides beads to children and teens with severe burn injuries. This Program provides beads for all sorts of treatments unique to burn care, but also some that are universal for all Beads of Courage members! All members receive the same color bead for nights in the hospital (yellow), or for pokes with a needle (black). Members of our Burn Program receive additional beads for treatments like hydrotherapy and burn resuscitation.

We only have three Burn Programs across the country. Help fund the mission and support children and teens coping with severe burns. That’s it from Arkansas! Check back tomorrow for more updates from my road trip!

Courage Tiger’s 2017 Road Trip is a feature of the 9th Annual Bead Challenge, a three-month nationwide fundraiser and beadraiser for Beads of Courage. As the official Beads of Courage mascot, Courage Tiger is visiting all 50 states to highlight the incredible work our organization does by sharing stories of our courageous members, families, clinicians, and the caring community of artists and supporters who make our vital work possible. Please get involved in Bead Challenge 2017 by visiting today. Sign up to PARTICIPATE as a fundraiser, CREATE glass beads, or DONATE to the cause. With your help, we can Make Courage Roar for kids coping with serious illness! Many thanks to Bead Challenge 2017 presenting sponsor Northwestern Mutual and supporting sponsor Soda Lime Times.
