A Beads of Courage program created by teens for teens in treatment
In 2019, Beads of Courage launched the Power Pendant Project for adolescents and young adults coping with cancer and other serious illnesses. We are seeking donations of one-of-a-kind glass pendants made by talented borosilicate glass artists to give to teens in medical treatment. The Power Pendant will include a booklet of accompanying affirmations to provide a moment of mindfulness in the midst of a significant challenge.

WHAT: Power Pendants are handmade for teens in treatment by borosilicate glass artist. These pendants are one-of-a-kind wearable art to help garner strength during trying times.
WHY: We know that a tangible object can be a symbol of courage, honor, and hope. We also believe in the power of our mind to help us process our fears and anxiety. Adolescence is a challenging time during which people strive to discover who they are, become independent, and learn to cope with the stressors of life in their own way. Power Pendants are a unique way for teens and young adults to have a physical reminder that they are strong, powerful, and courageous as they work through this phase of life that has been complicated by illness.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Beads of Courage, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization that provides innovative arts-in-medicine programs for individuals coping with serious illness, their families and the healthcare providers that care for them. Donors are critical in the support of these programs. Talented borosilicate glass artists are needed to create and donate unique pendants that will serve as a tangible and wearable piece of art for teens and young adults, helping them to be mindful and providing added strength when it is needed most.

All participating artists will be given a receipt of donation for their in-kind and kind-hearted donation. Artist acknowledgement cards are available for artists to autograph that will be given to the teen who receives your Power Pendant.
All donated pendants:
- Must be kiln annealed
- No metallic (reduced) surface decoration (unless reduced surfaces are under clear glass)
- Good connections and no sharp edges
