Beads at Home Program
Through our Beads at Home Program, we are honored to support children and their families who do not have the opportunity to receive the Beads of Courage® Flagship Program at their current hospital or clinic.
Beads at Home is available for people who are:
- seeking a way to honor the memory of your child and support their legacy with Beads of Courage through a Memorial Strand
- replacing lost beads (due to fire, flood, theft, etc.)
- wanting to receive beads outside of the USA
- hoping to get all your child’s NICU beads after their NICU stay
- wishing to participate in the Beads of Courage program as an adult
- looking to receive all past beads instead of the “100 Bead” catch-up process. bead(s) you received when enrolled into the Beads of Courage at your BOC Member Hospital or in the Beads at Home Program

Beads at Home Program – FAQs:
Q: What is the best way to apply for the Beads at Home Program?
A: We are currently testing out our new system and soon will provide the link here to order Beads at Home! Thank you for your patience we want to make this process easy and helpful to all!
Q: How do I know if I am eligible for the Beads at Home Program?
A: Diagnosis- Frequent hospital stays, clinic visits, or medical treatment needed. Does not have BOC at your hospital or department of the hospital or your treatments and clinic visits are off-site and far away from your main hospital.
Q: What happened to the waiting list?
A: In 2025 we no longer are adding people to our wait list because the wait is too long and close to 1000 people! We are going to keep those who are on the list there so we can continue to seek donors who will sponsor them to get their Beads of Courage. You can check to see your status on the waiting list on this map which is updated around the 1st and 15th of each month. You can also use this map to sponsor kids and teens from a certain region. This is for the USA only. if you are on the waitlist and decide to order your beads, please let us know so we can remove you. If you would like to donate to sponsor a child/teen – please click here.
Q: Is there a way to get Beads of Courage at no cost?
A: Beads of Courage supports materials for over 400 Beads of Courage programs worldwide and our need for beads far exceeds the non-profit donations we have received to support. We are asking anyone who would like to order Beads of Courage through our Beads at Home program to support the small cost per bead and shipping.
Family and Friends often want to gift Beads at Home to a child or teen they know. They can donate here and provide that child/teen’s name. We will reach out to them to get them set up in our ordering system and apply a credit to their account to order their beads.
We also love to receive donations for a child/teen on our waitlist! We have about 1000 kids and teens waiting! Please indicate that you would like to donate to support a waitlist child/teen here.
Q: I live in Canada and used to get beads at no cost from Beads of Courage Canada, what happened?
A: Beads of Courage, Inc. is currently supporting Beads at Home (Formerly Beads in the Mail) for Beads of Courage Canada while Beads of Courage Canada finds a group and donations to support the program domestically.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we seek to honor courage of over 60,000 kids and teens worldwide!
Q: Can I receive Beads at Home outside of the USA?
A: YES! Once we are finished testing our new system we will post the link to order here. International shipping will be added to your order. If you are prompted that the system cannot ship to your country – please reach out to us at orders@beadsofcourage.org so we can help get you the beads you need!
Q: Can I receive beads from past treatments?
A: We use “100 Club Beads” that represent 100 moments of courage displayed in the past during medical experiences. Please look over the “100 Bead” Catch-Up process. However, you can order all the beads you need to tell your story through our Beads at Home online ordering portal.
Q: How do I receive beads once I am enrolled in the Beads at Home program?
A: You can log in monthly or a longer timeframe to order the Beads of Courage you need from our Beads at Home online ordering portal. – Please, due to our small team, do not order more than once a month!
Q: How do I know what beads I/my child should receive?
A: Our Beads at Home online portal has all the Bead Prescriptions for you to review. Choose the one that best matches the treatment experiences you have. The Bead Prescription will list each bead and the moment of courage it symbolizes. You can use that Bead Prescription as a guide to tally beads. We recommend that you do your best to estimate. It does not have to be exact, and we do not need to know the dates of your experiences. How do you already tell your stories of courage? Mark down a bead for that!
