Virtual Jewelry Making Party with Katie Hacker and Friends
Sunday, November 15, 3-5 pm ET
You’re invited! Join us for a Virtual Jewelry Making Party with Katie Hacker and friends benefiting Beads of Courage! Katie is the host of “Beads, Baubles & Jewels” on PBS and editor of Beadwork magazine.
In this fun virtual Zoom format, you will make three beautiful jewelry projects with guidance from three all-star designers. Each project will take about 20 minutes with prize drawings throughout the event! Tickets are $50 per person and include a package mailed to you prior to the party, consisting of:
- Materials to make 3 designer jewelry pieces
- Beads of Courage Bead Strong activity
- Beads of Courage Carry a Bead Kit
- Raffle ticket for prizes during the party
- Additional surprises!
HURRY! Only 50 spaces are available and registration ends November 5! Adults and teens ages 16 and up are welcome to participate; children 10 and up are also welcome to register, but will need adult supervision with the projects. Thank you!

MEET YOUR DESIGNING WITH THE STARS TEAM:
Our expert instructors are three boss babes who love to make jewelry, teach jewelry, and wear jewelry. They’re big supporters of Beads of Courage and bring lots of good energy to our fundraising events. They’ve taught at our in-person bracelet parties at Beads of Courage headquarters and they’re skilled at teaching online, too. Get ready for a fun time for a great cause!
Tammy Honaman will teach us how to make a sparkly pair of wire-wrapped Swarovski crystal earrings complete with custom ear wires. Tammy leads the beading, jewelry, and yarn teams at Interweave.com. She adores her boxer Remington, introducing friends and family to Norwex, and game nights with her family. She joins us from her home studio outside of Philadelphia.
Kate Richbourg loves bead mixes and created a special blend for our party. She’ll show us the ins and outs of using memory wire to make quick, meaningful bracelets for yourself or a friend. Kate pilots Beadshop.com by day and @beadkate by night. She lives in the Bay Area where she appreciates craft cocktails, adopts black cats, and enjoys seeing Hamilton as often as possible.
Sarah James will share her signature stretch bracelets that are perfect for last-minute gifts or fighting the quarantine blues. Your kit will include a strand of beads and spool of Beadalon stretch cord. Sarah runs JesseJamesBeads.com after growing up in the family button business. She’s an enthusiastic traveler and music fan who’ll be Zooming in from her new home in the mountains.
Katie Hacker is the editor of Beadwork magazine and host of Jewelry Artist podcast. Years ago, she attended one of Jean Gribbon’s presentations about Beads of Courage and went straight to Jean afterward asking, “What can I do?” Since then, she has been on a mission to raise awareness and funds for Beads of Courage. Katie will be hosting our online party from northern Arizona.
Jean Gribbon is the founder and executive director of Beads of Courage. She is passionate about advancing the science of caring for children and their families coping with serious illness through evidence-based interventions. Jean lives in Tucson where she spends as much time as she can soaking up the desert flavor.
